Group Presentations on the types of script (P1)

We worked as groups to identify the different types of script for TV, Film, Radio and Video Games and then presented our findings to the rest of the class. See below for a link to the presentations, or look at the screenshots of them instead. The link to the presentations. Film TV Radio Video Games The Link to the website The Direct Link to the Script

Final Plan (P3)

After thinking of ideas for the script and taking the time to develop them further I have decided that the Script that I will be writing will be based on my "Umbra Hominis" idea. See my P2 Post for the synopsis of the entire story. In order to write at least 5-10 minutes of the script I will be writing I will write three extracts from different points in the script. This will allow me to clearly show character development and a clear narrative beacause they will be from different points in the story, when the characters have experienced and are experiencing different things and don't know how to cope with them. The three extracts are: 1) Tom arrives home and opens up his medication. The bottle is now empty. He hides this from his parents, intending to get some more on his way home tomorrow. When they ask where is is and if he is OK he tells them that he's put it in his room because it's easier for him and that he just needs a good night's sleep. Tom then ...

How do my scripts meet the requirements of the brief? (D1)

Image
The Brief My Idea I had my idea from previous units ,Umbra Hominis, but instead of just taking that and using it without considering any other ideas I decided to brainstorm other ideas that I had to ensure that the script that I wrote would be the best one that I could write. I narrowed my brainstorm down to 2 ideas and then from there decided that I would work on Umbra Hominis due to being more familiar with it and being able to work on developing the characters and story more. Key requirements I identified the requirements of the brief before I started to work on the script. This was so that I can refer back to them during the writing process and ensure that I am meeting them. The key requirements are as follows: I need to write a synopsis of the entire story that makes it clear what the target audience is as well as meeting the genre and having a clear structure. After completing the synopsis I need to ensure that I complete sufficient planning for the script in o...

Umbra Hominis Extract 3 (P4)

Image
See below for the storyboard of the script which is based on this extract of the synopsis: " Gets home, parents are out and he runs to his bedroom to take the medication. He fumbles with the bottle dropping the pills all over the floor. As he does the Umbra Hominis pushes him over. Tom looks up at him, in shock. A fight ensues with the Umbra Hominis demeaning and insulting him the whole time, Tom loses but manages to grab some of the pills. He puts them in his mouth and swallows them without any water, making a face due to the bad taste they leave. His vision goes fuzzy as they kick in, he has taken too many but they are working. The Umbra Hominis tells him that he will never be able to get rid of him as he fades away. " Follow t his lin k for the script as a pdf file, or read it on the screenshots below.  It will be easier to see the formatting in the pdf due to each page being A4 and the screenshots being different sizes.

Conventions in script-writing (M1)

See below for annotations of my first extract. These annotations talk about the layout of my script and how the language I use will help actors, directors and editors to make a high-quality media product. See the script annotations in P1 for some annotations of official scripts to compare to these annotations.

Umbra Hominis Extract 2 (P4)

Image
See below for the storyboard of the script which is based on this extract of the synopsis: "When Tom arrives in his third lesson, we see messages appear on his schoolbook. Degrading him. All of his classmates turn to him and start insulting him, eventually the teacher tells them to stop and tells Tom that he is weak and he doesn't deserve to live. Tom jerks awake as the teacher shakes his shoulder. He was asleep. Concerned the teacher asks him is he's OK, as he has never done it before and always plays an active role in lessons. He assures the teacher that he is fine and goes to the bathroom again. This time he locks himself in a cubicle, crying. Overcome by the sudden urge to throw up he rushes to lift the seat up in time. After throwing up he wipes his mouth and reassures himself that he just has 2 more lessons and that he's strong enough to last through them. Umbra Hominis Extract 1 (P4)

See below for the storyboard of the script which is based on this extract of the synopsis: "Tom arrives home and opens up his medication. The bottle is now empty. He hides this from his parents, intending to get some more on his way home tomorrow. When they ask where is is and if he is OK he tells them that he's put it in his room because it's easier for him and that he just needs a good night's sleep. Tom then goes to his room and frantically searches it for his prescription. Without it he will be unable to get more medication. After looking through what seems to be every possible hiding place he finds it, placing it in his pocket for safekeeping. He turns around to start sorting out his room and we see the Umbra Hominis standing behind him, Tom doesn't notice it and when he turns around to put items away, it is gone."
