Script ideas for media products (P2)

Before I started planning my script I first needed to ensure that I had a clear idea of what I am writing about. This included making a mind-map for any other ideas that I could write, to help ensure that the script I write is the best one that I can possibly do, as well as taking ideas from the mind map and developing them more.

Making a mind-map

As you can see from the picture above I had 4 ideas. I will decide to develop 2 of them more and then decide on my final idea.

1. Students hate their teacher, they go to desperate lengths to get rid of them. In their attempts they end up 'killing' the teacher. The teacher would then start to show them what the consequences of their actions would be if they had actually killed them. - I won't be developing this idea further because I don't think that it would end up being a true horror film. For that I think that the teacher would have to actually die and become a ghost.
2. A teacher kidnaps students and sells them on the dark web. This would be a commentary on multiple things. The funding of schools (the teacher turns to desperate measures to get money), slavery in the modern day and how responsible figures can abuse their power. - I won't be taking this idea further because I don't think that I could do it justice unless I was to actually write the whole script and produce the movie.
3. A haunted study room in a school distracts students while they try to study and drives them to suicide. This film would also be a commentary, a commentary on the effects of stress on young people. Especially exam stress combined with the stress of everyday life. - I will be developing this idea more because I feel that it is important to inform people about the effects of stress.
4. Umbra Hominis, the psychological horror film that I have worked on in past units. - I will be developing this idea more because I feel that because I have worked on it for a year I will have a clear idea of the story that I want to tell as well as being able to build on my ideas and planning from the past year.

I will now build on my 2 chosen ideas more to ensure that the one that I choose is the one best suited to fit the brief.

Based on the tables above I have chosen to write the script for Umbra Hominis. This is because it is better developed than my other idea and I feel that I will be able to write a better script for it.
