Script planning - Planning PowerPoint & Survey (P3)
Before I started to plan my script I created a powerpoint about the planning for the script that outlines what I am going to do (see below for pictures and follow the link for the actual PowerPoint) so that I could get feedback. I will be using the feedback to see different things that I need to include in my planning that I may not have considered. This included not being clear enough about the target audience.
As a result of the feedback I received I have decided to create a survey that will ask people about their horror movie interests. This will help me to see what types of horror movie people in my age group enjoy and what I can change to make it appeal to a wider range of people.
I decided to annotate the brief that I've been given to see what it says about target audiences before I created the survey.

I decided to annotate the brief that I've been given to see what it says about target audiences before I created the survey.
The survey asks a range of questions aimed at finding out what my demographic is. It asks about gender, age and horror genre preference so that I can see what people like and complete research into them. The results are displayed below:
These results will have an effect on the language that I use in the dialogue for my script, because it will tell me more about my target audience. For example because the majority of respondents are male I will definitely have a male protagonist, especially when I consider that my film will be about mental health and it's something that men don't talk about because they don't want to be seen as weak..
The respondents also chose a wide range of horror genres, I could include features of these genres in order to make the film appeal to them more. However, I don't want to include them if they don't add anything to the story. I will only add them in if they add to the story and help to develop the characters.
